Case Study
Developing a Washable 3D Mesh Floor Mat
At the 2015 exhibition, several customers from Japan and South Korea approached us looking for a breathable floor mat solution suitable for direct floor use. The product needed to balance airflow, support performance, soft surface touch, and easy daily cleaning for hot and humid living environments.
Our Solution
Product Solution
1
Building a Thick Breathable Support Structure
To improve both support and airflow, we proposed using approximately 10mm thick spacer mesh as the core structure material. Mefiss Textile, our own spacer mesh fabric factory, supplied the thick mesh structure with stable rebound performance and three-dimensional airflow channels.
2
Improving Surface Comfort for Direct Contact
Besides breathability, customers also wanted a smoother and softer surface suitable for long-term direct sitting or lying use. We optimized the surface texture structure to create a flatter and more skin-friendly touch feeling for floor mat applications.
3
Solving Thick Material Edge Binding Problems
Because thick spacer mesh materials are difficult to finish cleanly, we specially developed three-dimensional edge binding techniques and customized binding accessories. This helped improve overall product appearance, edge durability, and long-term structural stability.
4
Supporting More Customized Product Styles
To match different market preferences, we could further add yarn-dyed stripe effects, printing, anti-slip finishing, and customized color combinations. The breathable structure was later also extended into pet mats and other home comfort product categories.

What We Achieved
The breathable floor mat quickly gained strong market feedback in Japan, South Korea, and Southeast Asia, becoming one of the long-term popular breathable home mat structures.
