Case Study
Developing a Wide-Width Golf Impact Screen
In 2019, we began cooperating with a US indoor sports equipment customer focused on golf simulator products. During the pandemic period, the customer wanted to develop a high-strength indoor golf projection screen that could withstand repeated golf ball impact while maintaining smooth projection performance.
Our Solution
Product Solution
1
Developing an Extra-Wide Projection Structure
The customer required a 320cm extra-wide projection screen structure with stable surface flatness. Mefiss Textile, our own spacer mesh fabric factory, optimized the fabric weaving structure and yarn combination to achieve both large width production and stable surface performance.
2
Balancing Impact Resistance & Projection Quality
Besides projection clarity, the screen also needed strong tear resistance under repeated golf ball impact. We adjusted the fabric structure, surface treatment, and finishing process to improve durability while maintaining a smooth and even projection surface.
3
Meeting Flame Retardant Requirements
The product also needed to pass NFPA 701 flame retardant standards for indoor sports applications. Through multiple rounds of functional finishing adjustments and production testing, the final material successfully met both safety and physical performance requirements.
4
Solving Wide-Width Production Challenges
At that time, neither our factory nor the finishing suppliers had much experience producing such wide spacer structures. We therefore continuously adjusted heat-setting, surface treatment, and fabric stability processes through several rounds of sample testing and optimization.
Results
What We Achieved
The final golf projection screen structure achieved stable mass production and gradually became one of the mainstream structure solutions for indoor golf simulator projection applications.
