Developing a Safer Shopping Cart Seat Cushion
At the 2023 Hi Week Show in Hangzhou, we met Ms Jessie, an Amazon seller from Hangzhou looking to develop a shopping cart seat cushion for babies. As a startup seller testing the market, she wanted a product that balanced comfort, safety, practical functions, and lower shipping costs for e-commerce sales.

Prioritizing Safety for Baby Usage
Because the product would be used inside supermarket shopping carts, safety became the most important development direction. We used 30D density foam with vacuum-compression capability for the bottom and side support areas to improve softness and sitting comfort.

Improving Durability for Daily Shopping Use
For the outer surface, we selected printed Oxford fabric with better abrasion resistance and easier cleaning performance. This helped the seat cushion maintain stable appearance and durability during repeated shopping and transportation use.

Adding More Stable Fixing Structures
To improve installation stability, we added more than five Velcro fixing straps around the structure, allowing the cushion to attach more securely to different shopping cart designs. A front safety buckle was also added to improve baby seating stability.

Optimizing Storage & Shipping Efficiency
The product included side storage pockets for phones, bottles, and small baby items. To reduce sea freight, FBA storage, and final delivery costs, we adopted vacuum-compression packaging with retail color box packaging for easier e-commerce logistics.
